Regardless of the election outcome, we are left with chilling questions to keep us up at night. Why was this election so close? What will happen four years from now? Are we actually headed in a new direction?
America, we’ve been here before.
We’ve seen breakdown after breakdown in the social fabric of this country. It will take years to recover the social cohesion we need to finally have healing and a path forward as a nation. While the sense of uncertainty is real, it does not define us.
At the community level, we've dedicated ourselves to face uncertainty with resilience, vision, and action. We’ve rolled up our sleeves, and without guarantee of result, worked to find creative, collaborative solutions to our shared problems.
In our home of Oregon, Brown Hope and the Black Resilience Fund have been a lifeline for Black, Brown, and Indigenous Oregonians as they survive the dual storms of COVID-19 and systemic racism. We responded with urgency and creativity to provide cash assistance, mutual aid services, virtual peer gatherings, and advocacy for thousands of our neighbors.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We are hosting this volunteer webinar to get to meet Portlanders interested in how to support our work and to collectively help build the movement for racial justice.
Please join us for this opportunity to learn more about Black Resilience and how you can contribute your talents with our team!
